July 18th CrowdStrike outage

We're sure by now everyone knows the news around the global disruption caused by a CrowdStrike update. This outage only effected Windows users running CrowdStrike Falcon software and it was a global problem. Though only impacting an estimated 8.5 million computers world wide, which is a very small number less than 1% of global totals.

More importantly, we were made aware of a temporary workaround to fix this issue early Friday afternoon and posted this information on our social media platforms and shared it with our customers whom we knew were effected. If you were unaware of this and/or are still affected by it, here are the steps.

1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment

2. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory

3. Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it.

4. Boot the host normally.

The process is manual and tedious, but something you can apply to your critical infrastructure to keep working.

If your still having issues or are unable to get into Safe Mode please make a ticket and we will be able to help you get back up and running!

**We are not related to CrowdStrike in any way but believe it is more important to provide aid to one another first.
